Minimum Unit Pricing (MUP)

Minimum Unit Pricing (MUP) of alcohol commenced on 1st May 2018. 

of alcohol commenced on 1st May 2018.  The price per unit has been set by the Scottish Parliament at 0.65p [sixty five pence] and all licensed premises (including those premises covered by an occasional licence) must ensure that alcohol is not sold below this base price. The Council’s Licensing Standards Officers are monitoring compliance through their annual programme of premises inspections..

Although this change in the law affects mostly off-sales premises (shops and supermarkets) on-sales licensees should be aware and ensure alcohol sold meets the new requirements, especially when considering 72 hours price promotions.
