Early Learning and Childcare Parent Survey - Privacy Statement

A new data protection law was introduced on 25th May 2018. As a result, we've updated our Privacy Notice to make it easier for you to find out how we use, process and protect your information.

Your Personal Data

What information do we need?

PվɫÇéƬ will act as the ‘Data Controller’ in regard to the personal data you provide to us. The Data Protection Officer can be contacted at the Council’s headquarters is at Kilmory, Lochgilphead PA31 8RT.  The email address is: data.protection@argyll-bute.gov.uk   

PվɫÇéƬ Early Years need to consult with parents and guardians on the next phase for delivery of 1140 hours as detailed in the document ‘A Blueprint for 2020: The Expansion of Early Learning and Childcare in Scotland’. Your feedback will help us develop how we deliver Early Learning and Childcare across PվɫÇéƬ and Bute.

For the purposes of this specific service, the personal data we request includes your postcode and the month and year of birth of your child. Your postcode is required to allow us to determine where you live in relation to where you want to use your child’s funded early learning and childcare entitlement. Your child’s month and year of birth will be used to determine when your child will be eligible for their funded early learning and childcare.

Why we need this information?

We need this information about your views to:

  • plan and deliver Early Learning and Childcare that meets the needs of you, as parents and guardians
  • effective planning of 1140 hours to target resources to where capacity is required

You do not have to respond to this survey. If you choose to take part in the survey you will be required to provide your postcode and child’s month and year of birth for the reasons detailed above.

PվɫÇéƬ will not publish or make publicly available any information that allows you to be identified, nor will data be used by PվɫÇéƬ to take any direct actions on you or your child/children as a result of this information.

The legal bases for collecting your information in these circumstances are:

This is the system you will use to enter your responses to the survey. They act as a sub processor to collect the survey responses only.

You should also be aware that your data will be stored on servers located within the United Kingdom. We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that your data is kept securely and more information on how we do this is provided on the Council website () or can be provided in paper format on request to your School Support 01369 704000.

Your data will be processed by a designated team and appropriate mechanisms, such as a password, will be used to protect the original dataset from unauthorised access.

How long will we keep your information?

We will keep the original dataset for no longer than 2 years after the survey close date, after this period it will be destroyed under secure arrangements if it is no longer required for the lawful purpose(s) for which it was obtained. We can hold anonymised data (data that does not identify an individual) for as long as it is required. More information on our retention schedule is provided on the Council website () or can be provided in paper format on request to School Support 01369 704000.

Automated Decision Making

No automated decision making will take place.

Your Rights

When you provide information to the Council, you will have the following rights:

  • to withdraw consent at any time, where the legal basis specified above is consent
  • to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office
  • to request access to your personal data
  • to data portability, where the Legal basis specified above is i) consent or ii) performance of a contract
  • to request rectification or erasure of your personal data, as so far as the legislation permits
