The winners have been named in our October holidays photo competition 鈥 although picking the best pictures was no easy task thanks to the quality of shots submitted.
Policy Lead for Education, Councillor Yvonne McNeilly, judged the entries and after much thought was finally able to pick a top three. We asked school pupils in P站色情片 and Bute to send us photographs they took over the October break to be in with a chance of winning one of three prizes.
As part of the council鈥檚 drive to attract more people to live, work and invest in P站色情片 and Bute, the theme of the competition was simply #abplace2b 鈥 meaning pupils were encouraged to take photos of scenery, places, wildlife or whatever else they think shows our area at its best.
- The top prize of a framed presentation of their winning picture and 拢50 cash was awarded to Tarbert Academy鈥檚 Chloe Twynham for her lovely rainbow picture
- Second prize, and 拢30 cash goes to another Tarbert Academy pupil, Alannah Megginson, for her gorgeous beach scenery picture
- And third prize, along with 拢20 cash, is given to Oban High School鈥檚 Lauren Gibson for her superb photograph of a young boy (her brother) looking out to sea
Councillor McNeilly said: 鈥淭he pictures we were sent were all amazing. It鈥檚 really wonderful to see our children taking such an interest in the world around them and to see how well they capture the beautiful surroundings of P站色情片 and Bute.
鈥淐hloe鈥檚 picture instantly touched me as it shows a lovely rainbow over Tarbert. Following the tragedy of the Nancy Glen fishing boat earlier this year, I just felt this image was almost like a symbol of hope. Really, any of Chloe鈥檚 entries would have been a worthy winner, but this picture had a particular impact when I first saw it.
鈥淚鈥檇 like to thank everyone who entered and also all the parents and school staff who encouraged pupils to enter and helped them with getting their entries to us. I hope all of those who entered will continue to take pictures of their local area and share them on social media using #abplace2b so that we can see what is capturing their imagination in P站色情片 and Bute.鈥
