Hermitage Academy has become the first school in Scotland to gain national accreditation with Investors in Young People.
This accreditation framework recognises organisations that are committed to recruiting, retaining and developing their young workforce; it acknowledges them as an employer of choice, providing practices that have positive outcomes for young people.
Roseanne MacKay, Depute Head at Hermitage, led the school through the process.
She said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e delighted that all our hard work has paid off and we鈥檝e received formal accreditation for our efforts.
鈥淲e had previously expressed an interest in Investors in Young People so, when funding became available through Year of the Young People, we jumped at the opportunity to undergo the assessment.
鈥淚t鈥檚 been a real team effort. We鈥檝e built strong links with local employers through our Developing Young Workforce agenda, in order to give pupils opportunities for development, and we鈥檙e fully committed to ensuring the very best for our own young staff.
鈥淭his has been a valuable, positive experience that will allow us to continue to grow as a school.鈥
