Helensburgh event promotes modern day slavery awareness

An event to promote awareness of Modern Day Slavery is being held in Helensburgh鈥檚 Victoria Halls on 24 October, from 2.00 - 5.00pm.

Run by Migrant Help and Rah Rah Community Theatre Company, the event uses theatre and role play to educate on the signs of trafficking.

鈥淢y Mind is free鈥 uses a mixture of imaginative physical theatre and skilful multi鈥搑ole playing to tell the interlinked stories of four people trafficked to and within the UK and their horrifying tales of abuse, exploitation and enslavement. Nominated for best stage play by the Anti-Trafficking Foundation in 2016 and Amnesty Edinburgh Festival: Freedom of Expression Award 2017.

Rah Rah Community Theatre Company and Migrant Help will also run a 70 minute workshop on spotting the signs of trafficking. The workshop will also cover local information and give those attending the chance to engage with the characters from the play, highlighting the difficulties and barriers when dealing with slavery victims.

Both Migrant Help and Rah Rah Community Theatre Company will be available to answer any questions and there will be time to network with others attending.

To book your place, email: George.cameron@argyll-bute.gov.uk by 1 October.
