Schools, voluntary organisations, charities and businesses from across P站色情片 and Bute will come together next month to host P站色情片's first ever Education Climate Summit.
The event will take place via an online platform on Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 October 鈥 a week before COP 26 鈥 and will see a range of key speakers joining forces to raise awareness about a variety of climate change issues.
Each session will last approximately one hour and will include presentations by a wide selection of groups, including The Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS), local schools, ALIEnergy, Wreckspeditions Dive Charters Ltd, Time for Change P站色情片, and the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust.
The Council鈥檚 Policy Lead for Education, Councillor Yvonne McNeilly, said: 鈥淧站色情片 has signed up to meet Scotland鈥檚 target of achieving 鈥榥et zero鈥 by 2045. We have one of the lowest carbon footprints anywhere in the UK and I firmly believe that if we all make some changes, even small ones, we could become the first local authority to achieve 鈥榥et zero鈥 per head of population.
鈥淓ducation is at the very heart of this if we are to succeed and our schools are already doing amazing things to help raise awareness of global issues in our fight against climate change. This summit will be a great opportunity for our communities to come together and showcase what they are doing to make a difference. It will enable us to unite and highlight the challenges we are facing and what we can all do to help overcome them.
鈥淭he key speakers taking part in the summit have each geared their presentations towards a specific audience, from school pupils to local businesses, so there really is something to interest everyone. I would encourage everyone to sign up to at least one of the sessions and help us to build a brighter, greener future for all.鈥
