Digital postcards from Bute

Visitors to Bute will soon be able to send digital postcards across the world to help promote the island and attract more people to the area.

A new bespoke sculptural welcome sign is to be located in the winter gardens with visitors encouraged to share the Bute welcome to the rest of the world.

The new welcome sign is a long-term aspiration of the local community and businesses. Following a series of consultations with the Community Council and Bute BID steering group in 2019, the need for a sign was agreed.

To further support local businesses, a new all-weather canopy is to be installed in Rothesay.

The canopy at Montague Street Gardens enables businesses to operate under current Covid restrictions and extend the summer season by offering cover.

Councillor Robin Currie, Policy Lead, Economy and Rural growth:

鈥淭he rise of digital tourism means we are much better connected around the globe. We want visitors to champion Bute as a destination and help spread the word.

The welcome sign provides a stunning backdrop for photos and selfies that we hope will attract more people to this stunning part of P站色情片 and Bute.

The pandemic has been incredibly hard for the tourism and hospitality industry. As restrictions start to ease, support for local business is more important than ever. By introducing the canopy in Rothesay, we can extend the season and businesses can continue to operate, whatever the Scottish weather!鈥

Installation of the welcome sign and canopy will take place in the autumn.

The Scottish Government鈥檚 Town Centre Fund has funded the project.
