Residents and businesses in Campbeltown would like the town鈥檚 Burnside Square to become a new, flexible public events space, according to the results of a recent public consultation.
P站色情片 is installing a new surface flood water storage tank under the Square in the coming months as part of a 拢15 million Campbeltown Flood Protection Scheme to reduce the impact of flooding on residents and businesses in the town.
This provided the council with an opportunity to consult local people on what other benefits they would like to see from a redesigned Burnside Square, on top of the improvements the new flood protection scheme will bring.
Fifty-seven per cent of those who responded to the consultation expressed a preference for a flexible space and car park. With the consultation now closed, the Council鈥檚 design team will progress plans for a range of possible features in the Square, such as redesigned pedestrian areas, additional spaces for disabled parking, decorative lighting and hanging baskets.
Councillor Andrew Kain, Policy Lead for Roads and Infrastructure, said: 鈥淭he Campbeltown Flood Protection Scheme is a key investment that will bring a range of benefits, the principal one clearly being to provide a flood protection system for the town.
鈥淗owever, it also presented the perfect opportunity to ask the local community for their views on how best to use this important public space in the years to come. We are grateful to all those who took the time to offer feedback and make such a valuable contribution to the process.鈥
