Using your National Entitlement Card

Information on where different types of National Entitlement Cards can be used and charges information.

If you are over 60 or disabled, you could be entitled to free bus travel and concessions on ferry, rail and subway fares if you have a National Entitlement Card

Local concessions within Strathclyde available only to Strathclyde residents

Concession (elderly)

Scotland-wide free bus travel on all local and scheduled long-distance coach services at all times.
Restrictions:
Concessionary travel is not available on tours, excursions, night services and city sightseeing buses.

£1.00 single, £1.50 day return for journeys up to 10 miles.
50% of the standard single or return fare for journeys over 10 miles
Restrictions:
Concessionary travel is not available on trains scheduled to depart between 06:00 and 09:00 and 16:30 and 18:00 Monday to Friday

£1.00 single, £1.50 day return.
Restrictions:
Concessionary travel is not available before 09:00 Monday to Friday (unless travelling to hospital appointment or on a national public holiday).

A separate Strathclyde Ferry Travel Card is required for access to concessionary ferry travel.
£1.00 single, £1.50 day return for journeys up to 10 nautical miles.
£2.00 single, £2.90 day return for journeys over 10 nautical miles
No peak time restrictions apply.

Disabled

Restrictions apply as per disabled cardholder.

Companion travels at 50% full fare when accompanying cardholder within Strathclyde, except when concession fare is more than 50% of the standard fare, then full fare is charged.
No peak time restrictions apply.

Companion fares:
£1.00 single, £1.50 day return.
No peak time restrictions apply.

A separate Strathclyde Ferry Travel Card is required for access to concessionary ferry travel.
Companion travels at 50% full fare when accompanying cardholder on specified route.

Visually impaired

Scotland-wide free bus travel at all times for companion when accompanying visually impaired cardholder.

Companion travels at 50% full fare when accompanying cardholder within Strathclyde.
No peak time restrictions apply.

£1.00 single, £1.50 day return.

Companion travels at 50% full fare when accompanying cardholder on specified route.
No peak time restrictions apply.

Ferry travel - a separate is available to customers who are resident in the Cowal or Rosneath peninsulas, or on one of the islands in the scheme area.
