Children in PվɫÇéƬ and Bute who were born between 1 March 2021 and 28 February 2022, can be registered for a funded Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) place the week beginning Monday 22 January 2024.

Community and voluntary groups can now apply to a new fund to help create new facilities or improve open spaces in their local area.

Children who turn five between 1 March 2024 and 28 February 2025 can be registered for primary school during the week beginning Monday 15 January 2024.

PվɫÇéƬ is coordinating a multi-agency response following a small quantity of light crude oil surfacing from an underground pipeline in the area local to Finnart Ocean Terminal, PվɫÇéƬ and Bute.

New figures just released show that 95.6% of 16-19 year olds in PվɫÇéƬ and Bute are currently in education, training or employment, an increase of 1.7% on 2022 and 1.3% above the national figure of 94.3%.

I’m extremely proud to see first-hand, the great community spirit we are lucky to have in PվɫÇéƬ and Bute. From our many volunteers who run community groups to every day neighbourly support, our communities are full of good people willing to help each other.

Dunoon Primary School has become the latest school in PվɫÇéƬ and Bute to receive a gold award in UNICEF UK’s Rights Respecting School Programme.

PվɫÇéƬ and Bute’s communities deserve the same level of national government support as other areas, following the October storms which caused serious disruption to people’s homes and businesses. and local infrastructure.

Raising attainment and delivering positive outcomes for Care Experienced Children and Young People (CECYP) across PվɫÇéƬ and Bute will continue to be a key priority for the council in the year ahead.
