Focus on housing to tackle population decline

Housing in P站色情片 and Bute will be a key focus of 鈥榬epopulation zone鈥 actions planned by the council to reverse the area鈥檚 population decline. The national repopulation zone approach sees pilot areas taking steps to address their own particular challenges, and their experiences then being used to develop effective repopulation initiatives elsewhere. At its Policy and Resources Committee meeting today, the council agreed these areas as pilot zones for research into issues affecting local population levels: 鈥          Rosneath Peninsula 鈥 Helensburgh and Lomond

Additional 拢98,000 to support local businesses

The council is providing an additional 拢98,000 to support local businesses who applied to and qualified for its Business Hardship Fund. The council set up the Hardship Fund with 拢500,000+ of Scottish Government funding, to help businesses affected by the covid pandemic. It allocated this funding in full, on a first come, first served basis, to 102 local businesses. Councillors agreed today to provide 拢98,000 of council funding to support the additional 27 businesses who qualified for support, but applied after the Hardship Fund had been paid out.

Give your views on flood risk management plans

There are just a few weeks left for residents in P站色情片 and Bute to give their views in a national consultation to help shape how we protect homes and businesses in Scotland from the risk of flooding. There are currently 284,000 homes, businesses, and services at flood risk in Scotland and climate change is projected to increase this number by an estimated 110,000 by the 2080s. SEPA launched the joint consultation with local authorities, to help shape the direction and delivery of flood risk management across the country.

Council agrees to develop series of ambitious infrastructure projects

Members of P站色情片 have agreed to develop a series of ambitious infrastructure projects which could form part of bids for funding from the UK Government鈥檚 Levelling Up Fund (UKLUF). UKLUF will see local authorities across the UK compete for a share of 拢4.8 billion capital funding which will support investment projects with up to 拢20 million of funding, in addition to investment in larger high value transport projects up to 拢50m in exceptional circumstances.

Public urged to get behind bid for Oban City Status

鈥淐ity status for Oban would create opportunities for growth across P站色情片 and Bute. Competing for the title, with other places across the UK, is about showcasing that this is a great place to live, work and invest. It鈥檚 about attracting the people, skills and investment the area needs for long-term success. I would encourage everyone to get involved in helping Oban, and P站色情片 and Bute, win.鈥 Leader of P站色情片, Councillor Robin Currie, highlighted the importance of community feedback, following today鈥檚 decision by Council to bid for city status for Oban in 2022.

Council sets out affordable housing plans

P站色情片 has approved a new housing strategy that sets out plans to build more than 1,000 affordable homes over the next five years.  The revised Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP) has the potential to deliver around 343 new affordable homes in 2021/22 and over 700 additional homes in subsequent years.
